Galaxy Win Pro : Grand’s big brother

How you noticed something about the ‘new-generation’ movies that release in Malayalam? Every week a couple of these movies with odd English names release in theatres. Most of them are not able to grab the attention of the public. Among those released in weeks, hardly one may become a hit. Yet there is no dearth in the release of new movies.

Similar is the case of the ‘super star’ of smart phones – Samsung. The company that conquered the mobile industry with its expertise in Android operating system, launches at least one new model every week. If a particular model becomes a hot, then within months it’s updated version will be unveiled.

The company has long-abandoned its usual techniques of launching new models at a press meet in the presence of a large crowd and movie stars. Details of their new phones will now be publicised at various websites constructed exclusively for different countries. People who require the devices need to get details by in their own way.

Last week Samsung announced the arrival of their Galaxy Duos 2 phone to the world through their India website. This week the company’s Chinese website had the honours with the announcement of the new phone Galaxy Win Pro’s sales.

The website says that Galaxy Win Pro is the updated version of Galaxy Win. Indians may not have heard of the model name Win because here it is known as Grand Quattro. Meanwhile another phone by the name Galaxy Grand was released here. While Galaxy Grand is a dual-core processor, Grand Quattro works on a quad-core processor. This itself is the main difference between the two models.

The recently launched Samsung Galaxy Win Pro is a dual-SIM smartphone powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core processor. The device runs on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean. However the website does not specify about the phone’s memory or storage capacity.

The phone features a 4.5-inch qHD display with a resolution of 540 X 960 pixels. The Grand Quattro had a resolution of 480 X 800 pixels with a 4.7-inch screen. This shows that the screen size was reduced in the new version. However the battery efficiency has increased in the new version. If the Grand Quattro had a 200 mAh battery, the Win Pro has a 2100 mAh battery.

The phone comes with a 5-megapixel camera with LED flash. In addition, the phone comes with a front-facing camera for video calling. The camera is capable of recording sound while shooting photos. For connectivity, Win Pro has Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 3G, GPS and Micro-USB.

Samsung is yet to reveal when Galaxy Win Pro will reach the market or its price. It is expected that the company will cease the surprise soon.
